World Immunization Week, April 2016The ImmUNITY Campaign took advantage of World Immunization Week to fundraise and raise awareness for global vaccine access in our Iowa City/University of Iowa Community. Among the fun events held were a Noodles for 'Noculation spaghetti dinner, Burritos for Boosters community night at Chipotle, the Strides for Shots 5k, and a Greek Educational pertaining to vaccines. These events combined with other events throughout the 2015-2016 academic year allowed us to raise over $5000 for global vaccines, as well as educate our fellow community members about the importance of our campaign.

2016 Shot@Life Champion Summit in Washington D.C.Bringing IA to DC!
We had such a wonderful time in D.C. learning about how effective vaccines are and advocating for their access to children in developing countries. Thanks so much to Shot@Life for inviting us to such a great summit. Also thanks to the office of Senator Joni Ernst, Congressman Dave Loebsack, Rep. David Young, as well as Senator Chuck Grassley for listening to the importance of global vaccine access! We left inspired and motivated for our upcoming events during World Immunization Week which was the last week in April. |

Girl Scout "Journey the World" EventImmUNITY secured a booth at the regional "Journey the World" Event for the Girl Scouts. Over 1,500 girls attended and learned from hundreds of organizations determined to make the world a better place. At our booth we discussed what vaccines are and the importance of sending them to children in other countries. With the older girls we discussed the benefits of herd immunity. The girls had the choice to become “honorary junior ImmUNITY campaign members,” and we now have over 200 junior members pledging to talk to people they know about the importance of global vaccinations. It was awesome to introduce this concept to the girls and to spur future conversations and passions for global health!

VaccineAwarene ssThe advocacy campus sub-committee does events around campus to inform the student population and the general public about vaccines. We had an event on Tuesday November 18th 2014 on the T. Anne Cleary Walkway! We held up signs, passed out pamphlets, served free hot chocolate, and tested knowledge on vaccines in our Myths and Facts challenge. We are always looking for more ideas and any ideas that you have we would gladly take! Thanks to all who came out and supported the Immunity Campaign!

Bake SaleThe Immunity Campaign held a bake sale in the Old Capital Mall. We raised $275.83 to go towards the 60 shots in 60 days challenge through Shot@Life. October 24th is World Polio Day and being able to raise enough money for 55 Polio vaccinations was fantastic. Things went extremely well! We are able to meet many wonderful people in the community and raise money at the same time!
